Wednesday Night Book Club- July 2018
For our July 18th meeting at 6:00pm, we'll be discussing The Kitchen House by Kathleen Grissom.
Seven-year-old Lavinia arrives on a U.S. tobacco plantation from Ireland under orders to live and work with the slaves of the kitchen house. Despite being light-skinned, she bonds deeply with the other slave workers on the plantation. When Lavinia violates the order of plantation society, she unknowingly sparks a tragedy that exposes both the best and worst in the people she calls family.
